spanish games

These online activities are designed for native Spanish speakers, but they work well for Spanish language learners. Because the activities  have audio, children learning Spanish can hear and imitate correct pronunciation as they learn the vocabulary for parts of the body. The images give the language context, so that the meaning of the words is clear without translation. To make the most of the activities, be sure to repeat the Spanish words with your child.   Follow these steps to play:

1. Click the link to open a new window or tab with online activities to learn the parts of the body in Spanish.  The game will load the Bosque de Actividades (Forest of Activities).

2.  There are two children in the center of the screen. If you move the mouse over them, the text el cuerpo humano (the human body) appears, and you hear Descubre el cuerpo con los exploradores (discover the body with the scouts).

Click on the two children.

3. You will see a boy and a girl.

The mouse-over audio for the boy says Descubre lo que Jorge puede hacer con su cuerpo (discover what Jorge can do with his body).  Whoever chose that phrase had a sense of humor

The mouse-over audio for the girl says Ayuda a Marta a hacer un dibujo para su profesora (help Marta make a drawing for her teacher).

Click on the boy to practice the parts of the body in Spanish.

The audio before you begin says Toca con la flecha en las partes de su cuerpo (Move the mouse over the parts of the body).

As you move the mouse over the body, you will hear the body parts pronounced.  The written word will show on the chalkboard on the left.

Repeat each word with your child.  The vocabulary in this activity includes:

la cabeza – head

The audio will also repeat ¡Qué bonita¡ (How pretty!) ¡Uy, qué cara! (What a face!)  and ¿Nos quedamos con ésta? (Should we stick with this one?)

You can click on each part to change it and choose one you like.  After you click, the audio will not repeat that part of the face, but the word will change on the board.
